Analysis of natural and artificial radioactive emission pattern in Qarasu River catchment in Gorgan Bay, northern Iran

Knowledge of distribution and emission pattern natural artificial radioactive elements their radiation level in the environment is very important to assess its effects on human health living organisms. In this study, specific activity for 30 soil sediment samples collected from upstream outlet Qarasu River Gorgan Bay as well sediments eastern part were measured using High-Purity Germanium detector map with SURFER GIS software was drawn. Specific 226Ra, 232Th, 40K 137Cs obtained 8.80 31.92, 11.16 43.19, 183.77 562.88 0.83 12.72 Bq/kg respectively. Upstream River, average concentration beside higher than river, which indicates washing transport by water flow transfer these lower areas. estuary Bay, 232Th patterns are almost similar highest concentrations related sediments.
